Cool Handwashing thing!

I was in a restaurant the other night when I went to the bathroom to wash my hands. The restaurant only had one restroom and it was full. However, there was this strange looking counter that had two holes in it and a sign overhead saying Handwasher. I was very confused as I had never seen such a contraption. It said to put your hands in the little holes and it immediately turned-on water with soap. It was very cool and only took about 10 seconds.

I started thinking… wouldn’t this be great for hospitals and doctors offices? And schools? People would be more likely to wash their hands with something so unique. It also takes less time and still accomplishes the same goal. I think it would be very easy for children to use because they don’t have to do any thing. The parents don’t have to worry about them actually washing their hands because there is nothing for them to do! It takes away anyone having to touch soap dispensers or water handles. It is very innovative and unique at the same time!

  1. Morgan. Hi.

I just turned 32 and a co7ple of months ago i got diagnosed with sjogren’s syndrome after a friend suggested I get tested for it. How do you explain to others how it affects you inside but not ot on the outside?

    1. Hi Jessica. Thanks for the comment. When I was first diagnosed, I didn’t tell anyone what was happening to me. After a couple of months I eventually realized I would have to tell people. However, the people I did tell had a hard time understanding why I looked fairly normal but didn’t have the same energy level I used to or wasn’t able to do the same things I had been doing. Others have a hard time understanding that people can have something going wrong on the inside but still look normal. The best way I found to help people understand was to allow them to ask as many questions as they wanted and give as much information as they want. People tend to be hesitant to ask too many questions because they feel as if they will insult you somehow. Generally if you tell them its ok to ask questions and to explain everything clearly they wont be confused. Another helpful thing I found was called the spoon theory (http://www.butyoudontlooksick.com/wpress/articles/written-by-christine/the-spoon-theory/). This is basically someones personal experience on what she did to help people understand why she doesn’t “look sick”. I believe people have this image that people who have a disease aren’t able to function and live a normal life. You have to teach people that just because you have an illness doesn’t make you incapable of doing great things! I may write a full blogpost about this so thanks for the inspiration! I hope I helped!:)

  2. Its like you read my mind! You appear to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book in it or something.
I think that you could do with a few pics to drive the message
home a little bit, but other than that, this is magnificent blog.
A fantastic read. I’ll certainly be back.
